Union Public Service Commission invites online recruitment applications through Union Public Service Commission website (https://www.upsc.gov.in/) (Advt. No. 11/2026) for the following posts of 212 Public Law Officer, Assistant Public Prosecutor, Assistant Editor, Specialist Grade-II (Pediatrics, Anaesthesiology), Specialist Grade III Assist Professor vacancies on regular basis. The applicants satisfying the requisite qualification may apply through ONLINE MODE only, According to the official timeline, the online application portal opens today, 12.09.2026, and interested applicants must submit their forms before the closing date on 09.10.2026.

Eligible candidates possessing a Bachelor Degree, LLB, MBBS, MD/MS can apply exclusively via the online mode. UPSC Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification for UPSC:

  • Specialist Grade III Assist Professor (Anatomy) – 
    • Essential: Post-Graduate degree in the concerned speciality or super-speciality mentioned in Section A of Schedule VI from recognized Teaching Institute i.e. Master of Surgery (Anatomy); or Doctor of Medicine (Anatomy); or Diplomate National Board (Anatomy); or Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Master of Science (Anatomy); or Master of Science (Medical Anatomy) with Doctor of Philosophy (Medical Anatomy); or Master of Science (Medical Anatomy) with Doctor of Science (Medical Anatomy). 
    • Experience: At least three years’ teaching experience as Senior Resident or Tutor or Demonstrator or Registrar or Assist Professor or Lecturer in the concerned Specialty or Super 3 Specialty in a recognized teaching institution after obtaining the first Post Graduate degree.
  • Specialist Grade III Assist Professor (General Medicine) – 
    • Essential: A recognized MBBS degree qualification included in the First Schedule or Second Schedule or Part II of the Third Schedule (other than licentiate qualifications) to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956). Holders of Educational qualifications included in Part II of the Third Schedule should also fulfill the conditions specified in sub-section (3) of section 13 of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956). 6 (ii) Post-Graduate degree in the concerned speciality or super speciality mentioned in Section A of Schedule VI from recognized Teaching Institute i.e. Doctor of Medicine (Medicine); or Doctor of Medicine (General Medicine); or Diplomate National Board (Medicine/ General Medicine). 
    • Experience: At least three years’ teaching experience as Senior Resident or Tutor or Demonstrator or Registrar or Assist Professor or Lecturer in the concerned Specialty or Super Specialty in a recognized teaching institution after obtaining the first Post Graduate degree.
  • Assistant Editor – 
    • Essential: Bachelors’ Degree in Journalism or Mass Communication from any recognised University or Institute; Or Bachelors’ degree with Economics or Statistics or English as a subject and possessing a diploma in Journalism or Mass-Communication of at least one year from a recognised University or Institute. 
    • Experience: Three years’ experience of editing and publishing works in book publishing field in publishing house or Newspaper or News agency or publicity organisation or Government organisation. 
  • Specialist Grade II (Junior Scale) – Anaesthesiology – 
    • Essential: A recognized medical qualification included in the first or second schedule or Part-II of the third schedule (other than licentiate qualification) to the Indian Medical Council Act 1956. Holders of educational qualification included in Part II of the Third Schedule should also fulfill the conditions stipulated in sub section (3) of Section (13) of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. 12 (ii) Post graduate degree/diploma in the concerned specialty mentioned in Schedule VI or equivalent (ie Post Graduate Degree Qualification M.D. (Anesthesiology), M.S. (Anesthesiology), D.A: (two years Course). F.F.A.R.C.S. (By examination), Specialty Board of Anesthesiology (USA) OR Post Graduate Diploma Qualification – D.A.)
    • Experience: Three years’ experience in the concerned specialty after obtaining the post graduate degree or five years’ experience after obtaining the post graduate diploma.
  • Specialist Grade-II (Junior Scale) – Pediatrics – 
    • Essential: A recognized medical qualification included in the first or second schedule or Part-II of the third schedule (other than licentiate qualification) to the Indian Medical Council Act 1956. Holders of educational qualification included in Part II of the Third Schedule should also fulfill the conditions stipulated in sub section (3) of Section (13) of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. (ii) Post graduate degree/diploma in the concerned specialty mentioned in Schedule VI or equivalent (i.e. Post Graduate Degree Qualification – M.D. (Paediatrics) or Post Graduate Diploma Qualification Diploma Paed. D.C.H.)
    • Experience: Three years’ experience in the concerned specialty after obtaining the post graduate degree or five years’ experience after obtaining the post graduate diploma.
  • Assistant Public Prosecutor – 
    • Essential: Degree in law from a recognized University / Institute. 
    • Experience: Three years’ experience at the bar. 
    • Desirable: Experience as a government advocate. 
  • Public Law Officer – 
    • Essential: A bachelor’s Degree in Law (Professional or integrated) from a university established by Law in India having two years actual practice at bar to be certified by the Principal District and Sessions Judge concerned or Registrar General of the Honorable High Court concerned or Supreme Court.

Age Limit for UPSC: (As on 09.10.2026)

  1. Specialist Grade III Assist Professor (Anatomy) – 40 years for UR/EWS and 45 years for SC
  2. Specialist Grade III Assist Professor (General Medicine) – 40 years for UR/EWS, 43 years for OBC and 45 years for SC/ST
  3. Assistant Editor – 30 years for UR and 35 years for SC
  4. Specialist Grade II (Jr Scale) – Anaesthesiology – 50 years for ST
  5. Specialist Grade-II (Jr Scale) – Pediatrics – 45 years for EWS
  6. Assistant Public Prosecutor – 35 years for UR/EWS, 38 years for OBC and 40 years for SC/ST
  7. Public Law Officer – 40 years for ST
