UPSC Recruitment 2026: Union Public Service Commission invites online recruitment applications through Union Public Service Commission website (https://upsconline.nic.in/) (Advt. No. 12/2026) for the following posts of 13 Junior Technical Officer (Sugar Technology), Assistant Legislative Counsel, Law Officer, Specialist Grade II (Junior Scale) vacancies on regular basis. 

The applicants satisfying the requisite qualification may apply through ONLINE MODE only, According to the official timeline, the online application portal opens today, 26.09.2026, and interested applicants must submit their forms before the closing date on 16.10.2026.

UPSC Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification for UPSC: (As on 16.10.2026)

• Junior Technical Officer (Sugar Technology) – 
  • Qualification: Degree in Science or Engineering from a recognized University or Institute, with: (i) Associateship in Sugar Technology from a recognized University or Institute; Or (ii) Post-graduate Diploma in Sugar Technology from a recognized University or Institute; and 
  • Experience:  (i) Three years’ experience in teaching or research or advisory experience in the field of Sugar Technology; or 3 (ii) Three years’ practical experience of working in a sugar factory in a managerial capacity. 
  • Desirable: (i) M.Sc. (Chemistry) or Master of Technology (Sugar Technology) from a recognized University or Institute; (ii) Experience in drafting or editing of scientific and technological reports and reviews.
• Assistant Legislative Counsel – 
  • Qualification: A person shall not be eligible for appointment by direct recruitment to a duty post in Grade IV, unless he holds a LLB of an accredited University or equivalent and unless he has been a member of a State Judicial Service for a period of not less than seven years or has held a superior post in the legal department of a State for a period of not less than seven years or a Central Government servant who has had experience in legal affairs for not less than seven years or possesses a LL.M. and has had teaching or research experience in Law for not less than five years or is a qualified legal practitioner of not less than Thirty years of age.
• Law Officer – 
  • Qualification: Degree in Law from an accredited Institute/University. 
  • Experience: Two years’ experience in Legal work as a Legal Practitioner. Or Two years’ experience in Legal work in Govt. 
• Specialist Grade II (Junior Scale) – 
  • Qualification: (i) A recognized medical qualification included in the first or second schedule or PartII of the third schedule (other than licentiate qualification) to the Indian Medical Council Act 1956. Holders of educational qualification included in Part II of the Third Schedule should also fulfill the conditions stipulated in sub section (3) of Section (13) of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. 11 (ii) Post graduate degree in the concerned speciality mentioned in Schedule VI or equivalent (i.e. Post Graduate Degree Qualification – D.M. (Cardiology). 
  • Experience: Three years’ experience in the concerned speciality after obtaining the post graduate degree.

Age Limit: (As on 16.10.2026)

1. Junior Technical Officer (Sugar Technology) – 38 years for OBC
2. Assistant Legislative Counsel – 40 years for UR/EWS, 43 years for OBC and 45 years for SC
3. Law Officer – 30 years for UR and 33 years for OBC
4. Specialist Grade II (Junior Scale) – 48 years for OBC

Relaxation of Upper age limit: 

• +5 Years for ST/SC  
• +3 Years for OBC (NCL)  
• Persons with Disabilities candidate:
  • +10 Years for UR
