Educational Qualification for IMSc Chennai:
- Project Scientific Officer “D” –
- Essential Qualification: Ph.D. in Science, Mathematics, Science/Mathematics Education, or a related field.

- Preference will be given to candidates who possess prior experience in academic institutional publication.
- Technical Assistant (Systems) –
- Essential Qualification: Candidates should possess any one of the following: Bachelor’s Degree in Science (Physics / Mathematics / Computer Science / IT / Computer Applications) OR Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Computer Science / ECE / EEE / IT) OR Master’s Degree in Science (Physics / Mathematics / Computer Science / IT) OR Master’s Degree in Computer Applications (MCA) from a recognized College/Institution/University with minimum 60% aggregate marks in all years/semesters.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of post-qualification experience in System Administration or System Support is preferred.
- Desirable:
- Knowledge of basic computer troubleshooting, Format, Installation & Configurations, Data Backup, Diagnosis of Hardware.
- Proficiency in programming under Linux using C, MySQL, Perl, PHP, Python, and Shell Scripting.
- Completed I.T. courses covering Linux/Unix OS. Experience in programming using C, MySQL, Perl, PHP, Python, Shell Scripting, Networking.
- Candidates possess at least one year work experience in maintaining Linux/Unix systems, Network equipments are preferred.
- System Trainee –
- Essential Qualification: Candidates should have any one of the following: Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Physics / Mathematics / Computer Science / IT OR Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Computer Science / ECE / EEE / IT) from a reputed College/Institution with minimum 60% aggregate marks in all years/semesters. Candidates should have passed out in 2024, 2025 or 2026 only.
