The TATA Institute of fundamental Research has officially announced a massive 2026 recruitment Notification (Advt. No. 2026/6) to fill 35 Scientific Officer, Junior Engineer, Scientific Assistant, Administrative Assistant, Supervisor, Tradesman, Laboratory Assistant, Clerk, Work Assistant vacancies. The applicants satisfying the requisite qualification may apply through ONLINE MODE only, Apply Online on the official Web-site of this TATA Institute of fundamental Research i.e. https://www.tifr.res.in/. TIFR Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification for TIFR: (As on 04.07.2026)

  1. Scientific Officer (C) – 
    • Essential QUalification: (a) Full-time Degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech with an aggregate of 60% marks) from a recognized University/Institute in any of the following disciplines: Computer Science Information Technology Engineering Or a related field (b) Minimum 1.5 to 3 years of professional experience in: System Administration, or Network Administration.
  2. Scientific Officer (C) – 
    • Essential QUalification:(a) Full-time Degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech with an aggregate of 60% marks) from a recognized University/Institute in Mechanical Engineering. (b) Minimum 2–3 years of professional experience in the field of Cryogenic Engineering and related areas. 
    • Desirable Qualification & Experience: Full-time Degree in Engineering (M.E./M.Tech in Cryogenic Engineering with an aggregate of 60% marks) from a recognized University/Institute in Mechanical Engineering. Minimum 1 year of professional experience in the field of Cryogenic Engineering.
  3. Scientific Officer (C) – 
    • Essential Qualification: (a) Full-Time Master’s Degree in Science (with an aggregate of 60% marks) from a recognized University/Institute in any of the following disciplines: Chemistry Biochemistry Biology Instrumentation Or any other relevant discipline. OR (c) Full-time Degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech with an aggregate of 60% marks) from a recognized University/Institute in any of the following disciplines: Chemistry Biochemistry Biology Instrumentation Or any other relevant discipline. (d) Minimum 1 year of experience in operating NMR Spectrometer. 
    • Desirable Qualification & Experience: Advanced degree in a related discipline. Experience in managing and coordinating NMR operations at a core multi-user research facility. Sound academic knowledge of NMR.
  4. Jr. Engineer (B) – 
    • Essential Qualification: (a) Full-Time Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University/Institute with an aggregate of 60% marks. (b) Knowledge of the use of personal computers and their applications. (c) 2 years’ experience in supervising the maintenance work of large air-conditioning systems in a reputed organization. 
    • Desirable Qualification & Experience: Knowledge of Government tender processes, estimation, and tender preparation. Knowledge of AutoCAD for the preparation of electrical drawings is desirable.
  5. Scientific Assistant (B) – 
    • Essential Qualification:  (a) Full-Time Science Graduate (from a recognized University/Institute with an aggregate of 60% marks) in any of the following disciplines: Physics Chemistry Computer Science Information Technology Information Science Electronics & Communication OR (a) Full-Time Diploma in Engineering (from a recognized University/Institute with an aggregate of 60% marks) in any of the following disciplines: Computer Science Computer Engineering Information Technology Electronics & Communication (b) Knowledge of the use of personal computers and their applications. (c) Minimum 2 years’ experience in any of the following areas: IT Support System Administration Networking Hardware Maintenance Programming or Scripting Related Computer Infrastructure Work 
    • Desirable Qualification & Experience: Formal training/certification in Linux System Administration, Networking, or related areas. Experience with: HPC (High Performance Computing) environments Job submission systems Linux/Windows system support Hardware maintenance Networking Scripting (Shell/Python) Software package maintenance Certification in IT/Networking/Linux Systems will be an added advantage.
  6. Scientific Assistant (B) – 
    • Essential Qualification:  (a) Full-Time Science Graduate (from a recognized University/Institute with an aggregate of 60% marks) in any of the following disciplines: Physics Chemistry Computer Science Information Technology OR (a) Full-Time Diploma in Computer Engineering or Information Technology Engineering (from a recognized University/Institute with an aggregate of 60% marks) in the relevant discipline. (b) Knowledge of the use of personal computers and their applications. (c) Minimum 1 year of experience in: Programming/Scripting, or Computer Systems. 
    • Desirable Qualification & Experience: Experience with High Performance Computing (HPC) environments, job submission systems, and networking. Experience with Linux OS, System Administration, Software Package Maintenance, Git-based Version Control, and CI/CD-based Software Deployment. Experience with Scientific Libraries and Scripting. Experience in using Quantum Chemistry and Molecular Dynamics Software on CPU and GPU architectures. Cisco or Red Hat Certification Courses. Certification Courses in Information Technology.
  7. Scientific Assistant (B) – 
    • Essential Qualification: (a) Full-Time Science Graduate (from a recognized University/Institute with an aggregate of 60% marks) in any of the following disciplines: Physics Engineering Physics Electronics Radio Physics Optics OR (a) Full-Time Diploma in Engineering (from a recognized University/Institute with an aggregate of 60% marks) in any of the following disciplines: Electronics Electronics and Communication Electronic and Instrumentation Industrial Electronics Opto-Electronics (b) Knowledge of the use of personal computers and their applications. (c) 1–2 years of experience in: Analog and Digital Electronics PCB Designing Soldering Circuit Debugging FPGA and Microcontrollers And/Or Atomic Physics, Quantum Optics 
    • Desirable Qualification and Experience: Hands-on experience with Analog & Digital Electronics, PCB Designing, Circuit Debugging, Soldering, and SMD Soldering Hands-on experience with Microcontrollers and FPGA Operation of Oscilloscopes, Function Generators, and RF Components Knowledge of Circuit Simulation and PCB Design Software (e.g., LTSpice, KiCad) Familiarity with System Integration, Automation, and LabVIEW Knowledge of Python Programming Basic knowledge of Precision Electronics, such as: Current controllers for narrow linewidth CW lasers Temperature controllers PID feedback Laser frequency stabilization Exposure to the operation of Lasers and Opto-Electronics Components in a Quantum Optics and Ultracold Atoms Laboratory
  8. Administrative Assistant (B) – 
    • Essential Qualification:  (a) Graduate from a recognised University / Institute with aggregate of 55% marks. (b) Proficiency in word processing / database / accounting procedures. (c) 5 years’ experience in Accounts / Purchase / Stores / General Admin / Establishment in a large and reputed organization. 
    • Desirable Qualification and Experience: (a) The applicant should have experience in Central / State Government / Autonomous Bodies. (b) Experience of Government of India rules related to Establishment / Administration and service matters in any of above bodies. (c) Experience in handling CAG and other departmental audits. (d) Proficiency in written and oral communication in English, drafting letters, email, official and demi official correspondence.
  9. Administrative Assistant (B) – 
    • Essential Qualification: (a) Graduate from a recognised University / Institute with aggregate of 55% marks. (b) Proficiency in word processing / data base / accounting procedures. (c) 5 years’ experience in Accounts / Purchase / Stores / General Admin / Establishment in a large and reputed organization. 
    • Desirable Qualification and Experience: Software Skills Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Data entry, record keeping, and database management. Knowledge of writing/editing HTML files.
  10. Administrative Assistant (B) – 
    • Essential Qualification: (a) Graduate from a recognised University / Institute with aggregate of 55% marks. (b) Proficiency in word processing / data base / accounting procedures. (c) 5 years’ experience in Accounts / Purchase / Stores / General Admin / Establishment in a large and reputed organization. 
  11. Desirable Qualification and Experience: Commerce Graduate / CA or ICWA Inter.
  12. Supervisor (Cosmetics Maintenance) – 
    • Essential Qualification: (a) 3-year Degree in Hospitality Management or Equivalent from recognised University/Institute. (b) 2 years’ experience as Supervisor/Manager in a large Hotel/Hostel/Company. (c) Knowledge of use of personal computers and its applications. (d) Good communication skills. 
    • Desirable Qualification and Experience: (a) Full-time Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, or a related field from a recognised University/Institute. OR (b) Full-time Diploma in Sanitary Inspector / Diploma in Health Inspector / Diploma in Sanitary and Health Inspector from a recognised University/Institute. (c) 2–5 years of experience in Sanitation or related fields like janitorial services, waste management, public health, etc. Experience in sanitation equipment and machinery.
  13. Tradesman (B) [Plumber] – 
    • Essential Qualification: (a) National Trade Certificate (NTC) (with aggregate of 60% marks) awarded by NCVT in trade Plumber. (b) Minimum Two years’ experience in relevant field. OR (a) National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) (with aggregate of 60% marks) awarded by NCVT in trade Plumber. (b) One year experience in relevant field.
  14. Tradesman (B) [Electrician] – 
    • Essential Qualification: (a) National Trade Certificate (NTC) (with aggregate of 60% marks) awarded by NCVT in trade Electrician. (b) Minimum Two years’ experience in relevant field. OR (a) National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) (with aggregate of 60% marks) awarded by NCVT in trade Electrician. (b) One year experience in relevant field. 
    • Desirable Qualification and Experience: I.T.I. (Electrician / Wireman / Motor Rewinding Grade) Minimum 2 years of experience in relevant field.
  15. Tradesman (B) [Welder] – 
    • Essential Qualification: (a) National Trade Certificate (NTC) (with aggregate of 60% marks) awarded by NCVT in trade Welder. (b) Two years’ experience in relevant field. OR (a) National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) (with aggregate of 60% marks) awarded by NCVT in trade Welder. (b) One year experience in relevant field.
  16. Tradesman (B) [Electrician] – 
    • Essential Qualification: (a) National Trade Certificate (NTC) (with aggregate of 60% marks) awarded by NCVT in trade Electrician. (b) Two years’ experience. OR (c) National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) (with aggregate of 60% marks) awarded by NCVT in trade Electrician. (d) One year experience in relevant field. 
    • Desirable Qualification and Experience: Knowledge of operation and troubleshooting of Single/Three Phase supply system. Experience in the maintenance and repair of lighting systems, LT electrical hardware, and low-tension power distribution networks. Operational and troubleshooting knowledge of different types and capacities of transformers, motors and switchgear equipment. Knowledge about different earthing methods and troubleshooting of earthing-related problems. Wiring installation, i.e., Laboratory wiring and Control Panel wiring. Knowledge of electrical wiring and safety-related standards. Basic knowledge of Uninterrupted Power Supplies (UPS).
  17. Tradesman (B) [Technician Mechatronics] – 
    • Essential Qualification: (a) National Trade Certificate (NTC) (with aggregate of 60% marks) awarded by NCVT in trade Technician Mechatronics. (b) Two years’ experience. OR (a) National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) (with aggregate of 60% marks) awarded by NCVT in trade Technician Mechatronics. (b) One year experience in relevant field. 
    • Desirable Qualification and Experience: Must have experience in CNCs, hydraulics, rotating equipment, hands-on maintenance and repair of highly technical equipment, and troubleshooting of CNC equipment and controls. Must have the technical knowledge to understand part manuals, electrical/mechanical schematics, assembly instructions, and troubleshooting guides. Must have work experience with FANUC, Siemens, and Heidenhain controls. Must have a high degree of industrial mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical aptitude and repair abilities. Experience with electrical test equipment, electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems. Good knowledge of precision job machining on conventional as well as CNC machining centres in Tool Room/mid-size industry and should also have CNC programming knowledge. Good knowledge of the latest manufacturing/machining technologies. Proficiency in using CAD software – AutoCAD, SolidWorks/NX and CAM software – NX-CAM/Mastercam, etc.
  18. Laboratory Assistant (B) –
    • Essential Qualification: (a) National Trade Certificate (NTC) (aggregate of 60% marks) awarded by NCVT in trade Air Conditioning. (b) Two years’ experience in Air Conditioning. OR (a) National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) (aggregate of 60% marks) awarded by NCVT in trade Air Conditioning. (b) One year experience in relevant field. 
    • Desirable Qualification and Experience: Knowledge of personal computers. Knowledge of cryogenic plant maintenance.
  19. Clerk (A) – 
    • Essential Qualification: (a) Graduate from a recognised University/Institute with aggregate of 50% marks. (b) Knowledge of typing. (c) Knowledge of use of personal computers and applications – supported by certificates from the government recognized institutions. (d) Minimum 1 year experience in clerical duties and correspondence in a large and reputed organization. 
    • Desirable Qualification and Experience: (a) Working experience of administrative tasks, accounting procedures, and official correspondence within government organizations, as evidenced by prior education and/or work experience. (b) Basic proficiency in personal computers, webpage design and graphic design tools, Internet usage, Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) or equivalent, official letter writing, and official formal communications. (c) Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to prepare documents, posters, and other required documents. Basic knowledge of LaTeX is desirable. (d) Fluency in English, Hindi, and Marathi – both verbal and written.
  20. Clerk (A) –
    • Essential Qualification:  (a) Graduate from a recognised University/Institute with aggregate of 50% marks. (b) Knowledge of typing. (c) Knowledge of use of personal computers and applications – supported by certificates from government recognized institutions. (d) Minimum 1 year experience in clerical duties and correspondence in a large and reputed organization. 
    • Desirable Qualification and Experience: (a) The applicant should have knowledge of Government of India rules related to Establishment / Administration and service matters. (b) Proficiency in written and oral communication in English, drafting letters, email, official and demi-official correspondence. (c) Proficiency in MS Office applications – especially MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with excellent interpersonal skills.
  21. Clerk (A) –
    • Essential Qualification:  (a) Graduate from a recognised University/Institute with aggregate of 50% marks. (b) Knowledge of typing. (c) Knowledge of use of personal computers and applications – supported by certificates from government recognized institutions. (d) Minimum 1 year experience in clerical duties and correspondence in a large and reputed organization. 
    • Desirable Qualification and Experience: Commerce graduate.
  22. Clerk (A) – 
    • Essential Qualification: (a) Graduate from a recognised University/Institute with aggregate of 50% marks. (b) Knowledge of typing. (c) Knowledge of use of personal computers and applications – supported by certificates from the government recognized institutions. (d) Minimum 1 year experience in clerical duties and correspondence in a large and reputed organization.
  23. Work Assistant (Auxiliary) – 
    • Essential Qualification: (a) S.S.C. OR Equivalent (Central/State Board Examinations). (b) Minimum one year experience in a reputed Canteen/Catering establishment. 
    • Desirable Qualification and Experience: (a) Minimum one-year certificate course in Food and Beverage Service from a recognized Hotel Management Institute or equivalent University/Institute. (b) Minimum one year experience in a multitasking role (Commissary/F&B Service/Cosmetic Maintenance) in the Restaurants/Canteen, Kitchen and/or Dining facilities of any Hotel (5 Star and above), Government/PSU/Autonomous/Private concern having a strength of 200 staff.
  24. Work Assistant (Auxiliary) – 
    • Essential Qualification: (a) S.S.C. OR Equivalent (Central/State Board Examinations). (b) Minimum one year experience. 
    • Desirable Qualification and Experience: Candidates with the following knowledge & experience will be preferred: (a) Minimum SSC/HSC qualification. (b) Basic computer knowledge (MS Office, Email, Data Entry) supported by certificates from recognized government institutions. (c) Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously. (d) Good communication skills (in dealing with staff members/visitors). (e) Knowledge of office procedure. (f) Teamwork, adaptability, and attention to detail. (g) Minimum one year experience in documentation and record keeping, phone and email communications, and coordination between departments.
  25. Work Assistant (Auxiliary) – 
    • Essential Qualification: (a) S.S.C. OR Equivalent (Central/State Board Examinations). (b) Minimum one year experience. 
    • Desirable Qualification and Experience: Candidates with the following knowledge & experience will be preferred: a. S.S.C./H.S.C. (Central/State Board Examinations). b. 1–2 years of experience in sweeping, mopping, dusting, and disinfecting indoor and outdoor areas. c. Good communication skills. d. Experience in gym field will be preferred. e. Punctual, reliable, honest, hardworking, co-operative, and team-oriented. Willingness to follow supervisor’s directions and work in shift duties.
  26. Work Assistant (Technical) – Air Conditioning – 
    • Essential Qualification: (a) Passed S.S.C. OR Equivalent from a recognized Board. OR (a) National Trade Certificate (NTC) awarded by the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) in the trade Air-conditioning. (b) One year experience in Air-conditioning.
  27. Work Assistant (Technical) – Painter – 
    • Essential Qualification: (a) Passed S.S.C. OR Equivalent from a recognized Board. OR (a) National Trade Certificate (NTC) awarded by the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) in the trade Painter. (b) One year experience in the relevant field.
  28. Work Assistant (Technical) – Plumber – 
    • Essential Qualification: (a) Passed S.S.C. OR Equivalent from a recognized Board. OR (a) National Trade Certificate (NTC) awarded by the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) in the trade Plumber. (b) One year experience in plumbing.
  29. Work Assistant (Technical) – Fitter –
    • Essential Qualification:  (a) National Trade Certificate (NTC) awarded by the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) in the trade Fitter. (b) One year experience in the relevant field.
  30. Security Guard – 
    • Essential Qualification: (a) S.S.C. OR Equivalent (Central/State Board Examinations). (b) Must possess at least three years of professional experience in Defence, CAPF, or security operations within a well-established institution.(c) Firefighting Training, First Aid Certificate, NCC Certificate, Civil Defence Training, or Home Guard qualification. (This clause is not applicable to candidates from Defence/CAPF.) (d) Knowledge of the use of personal computers and applications.
  31. Project Administrative Assistant (B) – 
    • Essential Qualification: (a) Graduate from a recognised University/Institute with an aggregate of 55% marks. (b) Proficiency in word processing, database, and accounting procedures.
