Eligibility to Appear In NEET (UG) – 2026:
Qualifications for the NEET (UG) – 2026:
- CODE: 01 A candidate appearing in the qualifying examination (12th grade) whose result is still awaited may apply and sit for the test. However, they will only be eligible for admission to Undergraduate Medical Courses if they pass the qualifying examination by the time of the first round of counseling. This code also includes candidates who studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as additional subjects after passing Class 12th from recognized boards. Their candidature is valid provided they offer documentary evidence of passing with the required subjects.
- CODE: 02 The Higher/Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination, which is equivalent to Class 12, following 12 years of study. This must include practical tests in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology, along with English at a level not less than the NCERT core course. Per the National Medical Commission (NMC) meeting on June 14, 2023, and the New Education Policy (NEP), students who studied the requisite science subjects as additional subjects after Class 12 are also permitted to appear in the NEET-UG test and are eligible for an Eligibility Certificate.
- CODE: 03 The Intermediate/Pre-degree Examination in Science from an Indian University, Board, or recognized examining body. The curriculum must include practical tests in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology, as well as English as a compulsory subject.
- CODE: 04 The Pre-professional/Pre-medical Examination taken after passing either the Higher Secondary Examination, the Pre-University examination, or an equivalent. This course must include Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English, including practical tests in the science subjects.
- CODE: 05 The first year of a three-year degree course from a recognized University. The candidate must have passed the year with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology (including practical tests), provided the earlier qualifying examination was passed with these same subjects plus English at a core course level.
- CODE: 06 B.Sc. Examination from an Indian University, provided the candidate passed with at least two of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology)/Biotechnology. Additionally, the candidate must have passed the earlier qualifying examination (12th) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English.
- CODE: 07 Any other examination which, in scope and standard (covering the last 2 years of 10+2 study), is found to be equivalent to the Intermediate Science Examination of an Indian University/Board. This must include practical tests in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology, along with English.
Age Limit for the NEET (UG) – 2026:
- He/She has completed the age of 17 years as on or before 31st December of the year that the candidate shall be appearing for NEET-UG examination.
- For Candidates of General (UR)/General-EWS: born on or before 31.12.2009
- For Candidates of SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD/PwD Category: born on or before 31.12.2009
The Exam pattern for the NEET (UG) – 2026:
- Physics – (45 Questions), (180 Marks)
- Chemistry – (45 Questions), (180 Marks)
- Biology (Botany & Zoology) – (90 Questions), (360 Marks)
- The question paper will consist of 180 compulsory questions which must be attempted by the Applicants in 180 minutes.
