NPCIL MAPS Stipendiary Trainee Selection Process:

The Selection Procedure of the Exam will be as follows:

For Stipendiary Trainees / Technician (ST/TM) (Cat – II) – 1. Stage 1 – Preliminary Test, Stage 2 – Advance Test & Stage 3 – Skill Test
For  Stipendiary Trainees / Scientific Assistant (ST/SA) (Category – I) – Written Examination and Interview
For Scientific Assistant – C (Safety Supervisor) – Written Examination and Interview
For Assistant Grade – 1 (HR/F&A/CMM) – Stage-1 –Preliminary Test, Stage-2: Advanced Test &Stage-3: Skill Test

Stipendiary Trainees / Technician (ST/TM) (Cat – II) Selection Process:

Stage 1 – Preliminary Test:

1.0 It will be a Screening examination to be held to shortlist candidates for 2nd Stage Test. The format of the screening examination shall be common for all disciplines and will be in the following format:

1.1 Examination will comprise 50 Multiple Choice Questions (Choice of four answers) of 01 (one) hour duration consisting of Mathematics, Science and General Awareness. Mathematics : 20 questions Science : 20 questions General Awareness : 10 questions.

1.2 The Test will be of 01 (one) hour duration for a maximum 150 marks 1.3 03 (Three) marks will be awarded for each correct answer and 01 (one) mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer. Unattended 00 marks.

1.4 Tests will be conducted in single/multiple sessions depending upon logistics requirements.

1.5 Candidates have to undergo the Preliminary and Advanced Test ie.

Stage -1, Stage – 2 on the same day, with 30 to 120 minutes break in between.

1.6 OMR sheets of Stage-2 examination will be considered for evaluation only if candidates qualifies in Stage-1 examination.

1.7 Qualifying Standards: The qualifying standards shall be as follows: General Category (UR) – 40% marks; SC/OBC (NCL)/EWS/PwBD-30% marks.

Stage 2 – Advance Test:

2.0 The level of questions for Operator Trainees (Category-II), will be based on the syllabus in HSC or ISC and for other Category –II Trainees (SSC+ITI), the same will be in their respective ITI Trade.

2.1 The test will comprise 50 Multiple Choice questions (Choice of four answers) with 03 (Three) marks to be awarded for each correct answer and 01 (one) marks to be deducted for each incorrect answer. Unattended 00 marks. The test will be 2 hours duration.

2.2 Qualifying Standards: The qualifying standards shall be as follows: General Category (UR) – 30% marks; SC/OBC (NCL)/EWS/PwBD – 20% marks.

2.3 A merit list will be prepared for candidates after Stage 2 based upon scores obtained in Stage-2 only In the event of a tie, elimination parameters shall be followed for deciding position in merit list.

Stage 3 – Skill Test:

3.0 Based on the marks obtained in Stage – 2, Candidates in each trade (except Plant Operator) to be shortlisted for Skill Test. The number of candidates shortlisted for Skill Test would depend upon the number of candidates qualifying in Written Test but will not exceed 5 times of the number of vacancies for each post and category.

If the number of candidates qualified in Written Test is less than 5 times of the number of vacancies for each post and category, then all the qualified and eligible candidates will be shortlisted for Skill Test.

In case of ST/TM (Operator), the candidates to be called for documents verification after written examination will be 3 times of the number of vacancies for each category. If the number of candidates qualified in written test is less than 3 times of the number of vacancies for each category, then all the qualified and eligible candidates are to be called for document verification.

If there are more than 01 candidate with the same cut off mark (while short listing for skill test/interview/document verification), then all the candidates with the same mark will be shortlisted for skill test/interview/document verification.

 3.1 The Skill Test will be of qualifying nature only on Go (Qualified)/No Go (Not qualified) basis. However, there will not be any Skill Test for Category-II Operator Trainee for which the qualification prescribed is HSC/ISC. Qualifying standard for Skill Test for General Candidates shall be 50% and for SC/OBC/EWS/PwBD- 40%.

3.2 Candidates clearing the Skill Test to be shortlisted and empanelled in order of merit based on marks secured in Stage-2.

Stipendiary Trainees / Scientific Assistant (ST/SA) (Category – I) & Scientific Assistant – C (Safety Supervisor) Selection Process:

1. The Selection will be based on Written Examination and Interview.

2. Question paper consists of 50 Multiple choice questions in the respective discipline.

3. The duration of Examination will be 1 ½ hours.

4. 02 Marks to be awarded for each correct answer and 0.5 mark to be deducted for each incorrect answer. Unattended 00 marks.

5. Qualifying Standards: The qualifying standards to qualify the Written Examination shall be as follows: 40% for General category (UR) and 30% for SC/ST/ OBC(NCL)/EWS/PwBD. All those candidates who qualified will not be called for Interview. The number of candidates to be called for the interview will be in the ratio of 1:5 of vacancies.

6. Total interview marks will be 100 , Qualifying marks in interview for Group B is : 40% for General Category (UR); 30 % for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/EWS/PwBD

7. The final merit list will be prepared based on the performance of the candidate in Written Test and Interview.

The weightage will be 50:50. In the event of a tie, elimination parameters shall be followed for deciding position in merit list.

Assistant Grade – 1 (HR/F&A/CMM) Selection Process:

Written Examination The Written Examination will be in two stages:

Stage-1- Preliminary Test (1 Hour Duration)

Stage-2- Advanced Test (2 Hours Duration)

Stage-1 –Preliminary Test :

1. This will be a screening examination to be held to shortlist candidates. The format of the screening examination shall be common for all the non-technical cadres. The questions will be of Graduation level.

2. Examination will consist 50 multiple choice questions (Choice of four answers) of 01 (one) hour duration in the following proportion:

1.General Knowledge & Current Affairs25 Questions
2.Computer Knowledge15 Questions
3.English10 Questions

3. The Test will be of 01 (one) hour duration for a maximum 150 marks.

4. 03 (Three) marks to be awarded for each correct answer and 01 (one) mark to be deducted for each incorrect answer. Unattended 00 marks.

5. Tests may be conducted in single/multiple sessions depending upon logistics requirements.

6. Qualifying Standards: The qualifying standards shall be as follows:

General Category (UR) – 40% marks 

SC/OBC(NCL)/PwBD/EWS – 30% marks;

2. The test will comprise 50 Multiple choice question (Choice of four answers) from the following syllabus:

1.Quantitative Aptitude25 Questions
2.Critical Reasoning25 Questions

03 (Three) marks to be awarded for each correct answer and 01(one) mark to be deducted for each incorrect answer. Un attended 00 marks. The test will be 2 hours duration.

3. Qualifying Standards: The qualifying standards shall be as follows: General Category(UR)–30%,SC/OBC(NCL) /EWS/ PwBD –20% marks.

A Merit list of candidates will be prepared after Stage – 2 based on the marks obtained in Stage-2 only.

Stage-3: Skill Test :

1. Based on the merit list prepared after Stage-2, Candidates will be shortlisted for Skill Test.

2. The number of candidates shortlisted for Skill Test would depend upon the number of candidates qualifying in Stage-2 written Test but will not exceed 5 times of the number of vacancies for each post and category. If the number of candidates qualified in Written Test is less than 5 times of the number of vacancies for each post and category, then all the qualified and eligible candidates will be shortlisted for Skill Test.

3. If there are more than 01 candidate with the same cut off mark (while short listing for skill test), then all the candidates with the same mark will be shortlisted for skill test. The Skill tests will be of qualifying nature only on Go (Qualified)/No Go (Not qualified) basis . Qualifying standards for Skill Test shall be: 50% marks for General Candidates and 40% marks for SC/OBC/EWS/PwBD.

4. Candidates qualifying the Skill Test will be shortlisted and empanelled in order of merit based on marks secured in Stage – 2.

ii. Preparation and operation of waitlist : A wait list containing equal number of candidates shall be prepared which will be valid for one year only from the date of notification of select list. Wait list shall be operated only in the event of occurrence of a vacancy caused by non joining of the candidate from the Select list within the stipulated time allowed for joining the post or where a candidate joins the post but resigns or dies within a period of one year from the date of joining, if a fresh panel is not available by that time. Waiting list shall not be operated beyond one year or after issue of notification for fresh recruitment whichever is earlier.

 iii. Tie-breaking principle:

In the event of a tie, following criteria shall be adopted in sequence for deciding position in merit list.

Stipendiary Trainee / Technician (ST/TM)(Category-II)

1. Candidates with lower negative marks in Stage-2 to be placed higher on the merit list.

2. Candidates with higher marks in Stage1 to be placed higher on the merit list.

3. Candidates with lower negative marks in Stage-1 to be placed higher on the merit list.

4. Candidates with higher positive marks in Mathematics in Stage -1 are placed higher.

5. Candidates with higher positive marks in Science in Stage -1 are placed higher

Assistant Grade – 1 (HR/F&A/CMM)

1. Candidates with lower negative marks in Stage-2 to be placed higher on the merit list.

2. Candidates with higher marks in Stage1 to be placed higher on the merit list.

3. Candidates with lower negative marks in Stage-1 to be placed higher on the merit list.

4. Date of birth of the candidates.

Stipendiary Trainees / Scientific Assistant (ST/SA) (Category – I) And Scientific Assistant – C (Safety)

In the event of a tie, the following criteria shall be adopted in sequence for deciding position in Merit List:

1. Candidates with higher marks in Written Examination will be placed higher on the Merit List.

2. Candidates with lower negative marks in Written Examination will be placed higher on the Merit List.

3. Candidates older in age will be placed higher on the merit list
