Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification:  

1. PS-II-1 -Project Scientist-II (01 Post)
i. Master’s Degree in Science or Technology in Oceanography/Atmospheric Sciences/ Marine Sciences or equivalent OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized university with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
ii. Three years’ experience in R&D in industrial and Academic institutions or S&T Organisations and Scientific activities and services related to the specific fields of polar sea ice dynamicsor climate variability or climate data analysis onocean-ice-atmosphere interactions).
Desirable:
1. Experience in climate data analysis, ocean-ice-atmospheric data processing and interpretation, programming languages/software skills in MATLAB, C++, Python, CDO, FERRET, GRADS, satellite image processing, and GIS.
2. High-quality publications in SCI journals in the relevant field.
2. PS-I-1 -Project Scientist-I (01 Post) –  
i. Master’s Degree in Marine Science/ Oceanography/ Physical Oceanography OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized university or equivalent with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
Desirable:
1. Two years’ relevant experience in R&D activities, supported by publication(s) in SCI journal(s), in the areas of: Ocean/Atmosphere data analysis and interpretation.
2. Experience in undertaking ocean observations on-board research vessels.
3. Experience in ocean model/data analysis with working knowledge in programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, FORTRAN, and C and analysis tools such as Ferret, Grads, NCL etc.
3. PS-I-2 -Project Scientist-I (01 Post)

i. Master’s in Marine Sciences/ Marine Chemistry/ Chemical Oceanography/Hydrochemistry/Geochemistry OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering /Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized university orequivalent with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
Desirable:
1. Two years of experience in research & development in ocean biogeochemistry/ nutrient cycle/ carbon cycle/ ocean acidification, etc.
2. Experience in studies of CH4, DMS, and N2O in the marine system with good analytical skill and ability of independent instrument handling.
3. Experience in scientific expeditions and laboratory studies related to marine chemistry
4. High-quality publication(s) in SCI journals.
4. PS-II-2 -Project Scientist –II (01 Post)
i. Master’s degree in Geology/ Earth Sciences/ Marine Science/ Chemistry/ Hydrochemistry/Environmental sciences or equivalent OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized university or its equivalent with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
ii. Three years’ relevant experience in R&D in industrial and Academic Institutions or S&T organizations and scientific activities and services related to geochemistry/ hydrochemistry/cryosphere studies.
Desirable:
1. PhD related isotope geochemistry/ geochemistry/palaeoclimatology or cryosphere related studies.
2. Experience in field expeditions and laboratory studies using ICPMS.
3. High-quality publications in SCI journals.
5. PS-I-3 -Project Scientist –I (01 Post)
i. Master’s Degree in Physics / Meteorology / Climatology / Atmospheric Sciences or its equivalent OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized university or its equivalent with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level
Desirable:
1. Two years’ experience in atmospheric observations or numerical modelling, preferably in polar regions.
2. Experience in undertaking polar/ocean expeditions.
3. Familiarity with programming languages such as MATLAB / Python
6. PS-II-3 -Project Scientist –II (01 Post) –  
i. Master’s degree in Remote Sensing and GIS/ Geo-informatics/ Geology/ Earth sciences or its equivalent  OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized university or its equivalent withat least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
ii. Three years’ R&D experience in glaciology and/or application of remote sensing in glaciology
Desirable:
1. PhD in Geo-informatics/ Geology/ Earth sciences / Remote Sensing and GIS or related field.
2. Experience in geospatial technology, image processing/ modelling, fieldstudies including handling of field geospatial instruments.
3. Experience in field glaciological studies in Himalaya.
4. High-quality publications in SCI journals.
7. PS-I-4 -Project Scientist –I (01 Post)
i. Master’s degree in Physics /Earth Sciences / Water Resources/ Hydrology/Environmental Sciences or its equivalent OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized university or its equivalent with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level
Desirable:
1. Two years’ experience in hydrological observations/modelling, preferably in Himalaya.
2. Experience in establishing and operating field based hydrological instruments and field experience in Himalaya.
3. High-quality publication(s) in SCI journal(s).
8. PS-I-5 -Project Scientist –I (01 Post)
Master’s degree in Geology/Earth sciences/ Marine sciences or equivalent OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized university or its equivalent with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
Desirable:
i. Two years’ experience in study of trace elements and/or radiogenic isotopes
ii. Experience in polar/oceanographic expeditions and sampling.
iii. High-quality publication(s) in SCI journal(s).
9. PS-II-4 -Project Scientist–II (01 Post)
i. Master’s Degree in Environmental Science / Chemistry/ Environmental Economics or Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering or Technology from a recognized University or its equivalent with at least first class (60%) marks in the qualifying degree level.
ii. Three years’ R&D experience in environmental monitoring/impact assessment/ analysis
Desirable:
1. PhD in Environmental Science/Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
2. Two years’ experience in R&D in industrial or academic institutions or S&T organisation and scientific activities and services in modeling/ GIS/ analytical instruments and operation.
3. High-quality publications in SCI journals.
10. PS-II-5 -Project Scientist–II (01 Post)
i. M.Sc. Degree in Physics/ Atmospheric Sciences / Space Physics or its equivalent or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized University or its equivalent with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level. ii. Three year’s research experience in the field of space weather and atmospheric sciences or related fields with scientific papers in peerre viewed journals.
Desirable:
1. Handling of multi-instrument ground and satellite-based datasets including data processing, quality control, and analysis as reflected in publications.
2. Familiarity with any of the programming languages such as MATLAB/IDL/FORTRAN/Python
11. PS-I-6 -Project Scientist–I (01 Post) –  
i. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized university or AICTE or its equivalent with at least first class (60%) marks in the qualifying degree level.
Desirable:
1. Minimum two years post qualification experience in planning & execution of new Electrical projects involving power cabling, DG set, online UPS, Pump, HVAC, Split AC, fire alarm and firefighting system and its subsequent maintenance. Knowledge of AutoCAD software.
12. PS-I-7 -Project Scientist–I (01 Post)
i. Master’s Degree in Earth Science/ Geology/ Marine Geology/Marine Science or related subjects OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized university or equivalent with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
Desirable:
1. Two years’ R&D experience in pale oceanography/ paleoclimatology.
2. Experience in stable isotopic analysis of marine sediments using IRMS.
3. Experience in past SST reconstruction using trace element ratios of microfossils.
4. High-quality publication(s) in SCI journal(s).
13. PS-II-6 -Project Scientist –II (02 Posts)
i. MSc in Marine Science/ Physical Oceanography/ Atmospheric Science/ Environmental Science/ Earth Science or its equivalent OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized university or its equivalent with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
Desirable:
1. Three years of research experience in processing and analysis of oceanographic/atmospheric data having programming skills in C++ / Fortran, R-Studio/Python/Matplotlib, and Matlab;
2. Experience or seaworthiness to participate in the Southern Ocean expedition by ship for ocean-atmospheric data collection; 3. High-quality publication(s) in SCI journal(s)
14. PS-I-8 -Project Scientist –I (01 Post)
Essential Qualification: (i)Master’s Degree in Physics/ Applied Physics/ Atmospheric Sciences or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology in Electronics and Communication/ Instrumentation/ Instrumentation and Control Engineering or equivalent from a recognized university with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level. Desirable:
(i) Two years of experience in operation/ maintenance/ handling of different scientific instruments OR Two years of experience in atmospheric / meteorological data collection and analysis (ii) Experience in atmospheric instruments/measurements or aerosol properties and radiative forcing calculations
15. PS-I-9 -Project Scientist –I (01 Post)
(i) Master’s Degree in Atmospheric Sciences, Oceanography, Physics, Earth system sciences Or equivalent OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized university or its equivalent with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
Desirable:
(i) Experience in observation and study of atmosphere including precipitation, clouds, atmospheric vertical structure, circulation and handling of related instruments. Relevant experience in handling atmospheric data.
(ii) PhD in relevant field, experienced in polar atmospheric studies and atmospheric modelling.
16. PS-I-10 -Project Scientist –I (01 Post)
i. M.Sc Degree in Geology/Applied Geology/M.Sc. Tech Geology or its equivalent or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognised University or its equivalent with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
Desirable:
i. Three years of research experience in geomorphology / sedimentology /surveying and field mapping in high altitude or Polar regions with scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals.
ii. Conversant with geomorphic modelling using satellite data and GIS modules, familiarity with programming languages such as MATLAB/Python
17. PS-I-11 -Project Scientist –I (01 Post)
i. Master’s Degree in Geophysics/Marine Geophysics/Geology/Marine Sciences/Earth Sciences or its equivalent or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized university or its equivalent with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
Desirable:
1. Two years of academic/research experience in seismic data processing and interpretation. Demonstrated excellence through peer reviewed publications
2. Experience in marine geophysical data acquisition.
18. PS-I-12 -Project Scientist –I (01 Post) –  
i. Master’s degree in Geophysics/Applied Geophysics/Marine Geophysics from a recognized university or its equivalent or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized university with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
Desirable:
1. Two years of relevant experience in R&D in industrial and Academic Institutions or S&T organizations and scientific activities and services.
2. Experience in seismological data modelling, seismic tomography and geodynamic modelling.
3. Knowledge of numerical modelling; exposure to seismology software and UNIX/LINUX/GIS/ C++/MATLAB environments with programming skills.
4. Demonstrated excellence through peer reviewed publications
19. PS-I-13-Project Scientist –I (03 Post)
i. Master’s Degree in Geophysics/Applied Geophysics/ Marine Geophysics/ or its equivalent or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized university or its equivalent with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
Desirable:
1. Two years of experience in marine geophysics with exposure to GIS and programming.
2. Experience in participation in marine scientific expeditions.
3. Experience in analysis and interpretation of marine geophysical data.
4. High quality publication in SCI journal(s)
20. PS-I-14 -Project Scientist –I (01 Post) –  
i. Master’s Degree in Geology / Applied Geology / Marine Geology /Geochemistry/ Earth Sciences/Geological Sciences or its equivalent or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized university with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
Desirable:
1. Two years of experience in sediment geochemistry/ rock geochemistry, isotope geochemistry, etc.
2. Operation/ maintenance/ handling of scientific analytical instruments like ICP-MS, LA-ICP-MS, XRF, XRD etc.
3. High-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals
21. PS-I-15 -Project Scientist –I (01 Post)
i. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology in Marine Engg. / Naval Architecture / Mechanical Engg. / Electrical Engg. or its equivalent from a recognized university with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
Desirable:
1. Two years of relevant experience in ship operations/ ship management/ new ship acquisition.
2. Master’s degree in Engineering/ Technology in Marine Engg./ Naval Architecture/ Mechanical Engg./ Electrical Engg.
3. Specific experience in design, shipbuilding activities for new vessel Construction.
22. PS-II-7 -Project Scientist –II (01 Post)
(i) Master’s Degree in Hydro Chemistry / Marine Chemistry / Chemical Oceanography / Chemistry /Chemical Sciences or its equivalent or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized university with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
(ii) Three years of experience in research related to water column chemistry.
Desirable:
(i) Experience in participating in marine scientific expeditions, water sample collection and analysis of chemical parameters.
(ii) Experience in analysis and interpretation of trace metal and gases in coastal or deep ocean waters and handling of scientific analytical instruments like ICP-MS, HR-ICP-MS, etc.
(iii) High-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals

Age Limit: (As on 21.02.2024)

1. Project Scientist-I – 35 Years
2. Project Scientist-II 40 Years

The Upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST; 3 years for OBC, 10 Years for Persons with Disabilities (15 years for SC/ST PWD’s & 13 years for OBC PWD’s) and for Ex-S as per Govt. of India rules. 1. Project Scientist-I – Rs. 56000 + HRA
2. Project Scientist-II Rs. 67000 + HRA
